History

We have been around a long time, but that shows that we love what we do and hire the right people to help us succeed. We continue to adapt, learn, and encourage our staff with young, intelligent people who grow with the firm and share our passion for design. Combine this with over 100 years of experience for a successful recipe that continues to energize us every day.

DRA’s history began in 1923 with one man, Colonel William W. Drummey, a graduate of the Boston Latin School and MIT. His first significant commission, the Capitol Movie Theatre in Arlington, MA was completed in 1925. In 1958 the Colonel invited Dick Rosane and David Anderson aboard and thus began a new chapter of the firm’s architectural journey.

Today DRA has two offices and more than 30 employees. We specialize in the planning and design of academic, civic, athletic, and performing arts environments for both public and private clients.
