Independent Schools

Lyndon Institute – Hilton Hall

Lyndon Center, VT

Lyndon Institute, an independent school in Vermont, is a traditional “New England Academy” enrolling both American and International students. The school needed to expand their residential offering to meet the demands of the popular boarding program that was re-established in 2003. After exploration of several options, the administration and Board of Trustees agreed with DRA’s recommendation to expand and renovate the existing Campbell Cottage in 2007 and then build the new Hilton Hall in 2010.

The 20-bed, 10,400 SF new construction, Hilton Hall (with 2 dorm parent apartments) includes a multi-function common area, a study room and computer room, a dining area and appropriate bathroom facilities for the common and bedroom areas. Certain elements of the project are designed to include “green” components.

After workshops with all key stakeholders, as well as representatives of the student body, faculty, and the general public on the first dormitory, DRA was able to capitalize on its’ knowledge of the Institute’s needs in the design of the Hilton Hall.
