Middletown Police Station

Middletown, RI

Following a space needs assessment, DRA designed a new 21,000 SF two-story police facility to replace the aging 6,000 SF building overcrowded building that had numerous deficiencies and inadequate separation of security levels. The new main level matches the ground level at the front of the building and includes Dispatch, Community/Training Room, Administration, Records, Detention Area, Sally Port and Detective Area. The walk-out lower level includes the remainder of the spaces including Locker Rooms and Physical Training, Evidence Rooms, Briefing and support spaces. Having two floors on grade has allowed the building to have windows in many more spaces. The new headquarters includes a Community/Training room that is located directly off the entrance lobby and is available for the public’s use. The brick exterior with pitched roofs has been designed to blend with adjacent residential architecture.

Completed in 2009.

Services performed by The Lawrence Associates (TLA). TLA merged with DRA on July 1, 2014, and operates under the DRA name.
