East Greenwich Police Station

East Greenwich, RI

After a Space Needs Study for the Police Department was completed, several potential sites were reviewed, and it was determined that the optimal location was a parcel of land with an abandoned U.S. Postal Service facility which would be demolished.

This two-story plus full basement facility replaces the town’s 6,010 SF overcrowded and antiquated building. The basement features a four-lane pistol range with equipment for tactical weaponry training. The public entrance is accented by an octagonal-shaped lobby with dispatch, records and other public-accessible spaces adjacent. A two-bay sally port with direct access to prison processing and detention facilities are located at the rear of the building. The design reflects the architectural detailing of neighboring older buildings in the business district that feature brick and stone trim.

Completed in 2009.

Services performed by The Lawrence Associates (TLA). TLA merged with DRA on July 1, 2014, and operates under the DRA name.
