DRA Celebrates Topping Off of Marathon Elementary School

The Marathon Elementary School construction project recently hit another milestone. A small group of people, including town and school officials and project team members, gathered to celebrate the topping off ceremony of the new 88,700 square foot school located on 129 Hayden Rowe Street near EMC park.

The two-story school is being built for pre-K, kindergarten and first-grade students and will replace the Center School on Ash Street, that was built in 1927. The design features a cafetorium, gymnasium, media center and other specialized spaces including an art and music room.

Targeting LEED Silver certification, the early elementary school will include many sustainable features, including a photo-voltaic array on the roof, outdoor and indoor water use reduction, controllable interior lighting, and designated parking for green vehicles.

The $44.7 million building is scheduled for completion for the 2018/2019 school year. The project team includes Compass Project Management (Owner’s Rep); Colantonio (Construction Manager), and DRA Architects (Architect).
