Miller Elementary School Westford, MA
Miller Elementary School was designed and built simultaneously with Crisafulli Elementary school and therefore has similar features, including unusually high ceilings and two story areas. Building scale was an important consideration. The designers had to fit the facility within the rocky site without overpowering the close residential neighbors. Miller is designed around a triangular interior courtyard that is used as an outdoor classroom. Within the hallway circulation, additional space was carved out to allow for meetings or presentations. Stepped seating was created to provide space for student presentations or special meetings.
