Palmer District Courthouse
Palmer, MA
DRA provided architectural and interior design services for a new trial court facility in Palmer, MA. The building's exterior makes architectural references to the neighboring hills and traditional civic architecture. The use of masonry materials are reminiscent of the brick and granite facade language of the local turn of the century mill buildings located in the area.
The new courthouse facility includes two courtrooms designed to accommodate jury trials, two judges' lobbies, a large conference room with the capacity for a jury pool, jury deliberation rooms, offices, vault, detention facilities, an employee lounge, and a secured sally port for receiving prisoners. The site was also designed to incorporate parking for approximately 100 cars.
