Principal Jim Barrett joined DRA in 1987 and has been a principal since 1999. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Design Resource Management from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Boston Architectural Center. Jim is a registered architect with more than twenty years of professional experience; he is NCARB certified, with active registrations in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia and is a LEED certified designer. Jim is currently a member of the American Institute of Architects, Boston Society of Architects, U.S. Green Building Council, Council of Educational and Facility Planners International, Boston Society of Architects Healthcare Committee, and has, in the past, participated as a Boston Architectural Center Faculty member. During his career at DRA, Jim has been responsible for more than thirty major design efforts amounting to more than two million square feet of construction.
Jim is a frequent speaker at local and national conferences where he covers topics such as raising community awareness and support for projects, technology and its impact on design, and enhancing the learning experience through design. As part of his ongoing commitment to design excellence and understanding current trends, Jim regularly attends conferences throughout the east coast. |
